What Are the Types of Broadway Theaters?

An experienced procurement professional, James Berlangero has worked in the supply chain industry since starting his career as a senior buyer in 1985. James Berlangero held senior-level positions at New York Homes and Community Renewal and Cushman & Wakefield. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys sports and Broadway theater among other hobbies.

Broadway theater, often referred to as Broadway, encompasses approximately 41 professional theaters located in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. However, nearby theaters are also referred to as Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway.

Although there are exceptions, Broadway theaters typically contain at least 500 seats, while the other theater types seat fewer individuals. Off-Broadway theaters seat between 99 and 499 people, while Off-Off-Broadway theaters seat 99 or fewer people. Due to these size distinctions, the smaller Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway venues can be found spread across the city rather than in close proximity to the Theater District and Lincoln Center along New York’s Broadway Boulevard.

About James Berlangero

The contracting manager at PSEG, James Berlangero has been working in the supply management sector for more than 30 years. A graduate of Nassau College, he holds an associate’s degree in business administration, attended New York Institute of Technology along with a designation as a certified purchasing manager from the Institute of Supply Management. In addition, James Berlangero completed the Charles Karras Effective Negotiating Program, the Roy L. Wilson Construction Claims Training program, and several courses at the National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM).

In addition to his formal education in the supply management and business administration fields, Mr. Berlangero possesses more than 35 years of hands-on experience. He began his career at Keyspan Energy Delivery before ultimately vacating his position as Senior Buyer after 15 years. From there, he took on such positions as Assistant Vice President of global hardware at Citigroup, Senior Consultant for Computer Associates, Category Acquisition Manager at Metro-North Railroad, and Sourcing Manager for Cushman & Wakefield. These positions granted him familiarity with everything from negotiating contracts to overseeing teams of more than 20 individuals.

Outside of work Mr. Berlangero maintains an active presence in the professional community. He often attends various business functions that support employers, and was a board member of the Institute of Supply Management for 15 years. He is also is fond of volunteering in his free time, and is an avid sports fan who enjoys coaching. An outdoor enthusiast, Mr. Berlangero also enjoys exercises, gardening, and fishkeeping.
